I still think it would make sense for the default filter to hide images containing tags like generation errors, low quality, machine learning abomination and wtf.
It’s a shame people are using downvotes for things they don’t like, making votes basically useless to determine if something is well done.

The deletion date in derpi seems to have passed; and I’m only seeing the comment counts here, not the actual content. Is it still importable, or was there some kind of miscommunique?

Thanks for the update. Glad something like that was caught quickly.

Basically to speed things up (and in case the AI deletions happened before the import did) derpi gave us access to a comment dump. The dump included all comments, which without realizing included the names of as-anon commenters; the import script could not have possibly caught this error, since it was given commenter names as plain text without the as-anon flag, so names were used instead of anon ids. As soon as that was reported to us the import was reverted.
We’ll be running another import soon using the standard public dump instead (with a side effect of also pushing back the deletion date on derpi).
AFAIK derpi’s tech admin will be making a post about it there as well with I assume better details.

Comments temporarily reverted due to an issue we encountered, will be reimported Soon. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Thanks, I know too well about having things on a to-do list and never being able to get to them due to other priorities.
Funnily enough, the script would have been way simpler with direct access to both the Derpi and Tantabus databases and just having it directly import instead of having to process the nightly dump.
But just in case direct connection to both wasn’t possible, I went with that method, especially if the data was already deleted on Derpi.
Anyways, I have a lot of experience with these types of things, especially data migration between services, and I knew I could get something working fairly quickly.
Anyways, if there is anything else that needs migrating, let me know.
I’m sure this community would prefer to have the tags with the correct details, such as categories, aliases, includes, and descriptions, etc.

I’d like to personally thank you, @Adorable Blue Fox for the incredible script.
If it wasn’t for your effort, I am pretty sure “migrate the comments” would have remained a task somewhere on my TODO list, potentially indefinitely as it wasn’t that high of a priority.
The code was easy to understand, and dealt with all the potential issues such migration could easily encounter (Most notably, re-runs, without risking duplications)
Really, thank you! :)

There’s still a ludicrous amount of stuff being tagged
There’s still a ludicrous amount of stuff being tagged
ai composition over there that’s going to need heavy-handed enforcement or this whole thing is pointless. I can’t speak to what is actually being enforced but ‘ai that looks good enough’ or ‘ai with a speech bubble’ shouldn’t be the standard for what is acceptable.Site and Policy » Opening Thread » Post 179
@Adorable Blue Fox
when all of these iterations of programmatic transfers are done we’re going to be going through any images with sus tag changes by hand to make sure we aren’t missing any that should be here

Ah, okay, that makes sense.
There are people who retagged images from ai generated to ai composition, etc. Still, if the plan is to import the rest “soon,” then it would at least just cover that base even though they’re both going to be on Derpi and Tantabus. Who knows, the rules could change again.

@Adorable Blue Fox
We run it only for the “ai generated” images, as (the majority of) those will be removed from derpi. We’ll grab the rest “soon”, though we likely won’t be rerunning it for updates after that.

Woo, thanks for running my script; I am glad to see the comments on the tantabus now.
Also, are the comments still being imported? Because I noticed a few missing comments, which I never had issues with during my tests. If someone could send me the
processing.log file, that would be great so I can fix that potential issue.Here is a small example that does not have the comments imported:
Tantabus & Derpi
And to sanity check that comment does exist on my test environment:

I’ve also noticed that I neglected to check for deleted comments to prevent them from being imported, so any deleted/banned comments are now visible again as raw text. I can adjust the script to fix that issue.

We were planning on making a proper post about it (combined with a couple other things), but yep, everything worked out there.
Huge thanks to Adorable Blue Fox, our sysadmin was very impressed with the functionality and quality!

IMHO it’s OK to upload low quality stuff if it’s low quality because it’s old. Just tag it as low quality plus add tags for specific problems (tag guidelines include problem tags).

I agree that the default filter should not show low quality images and images so terrible/WTF that they are funny.

Site and Policy » 'Hide' Button Isn't Working for Me » Topic Opener
If I click the Hide button for an image, I expect it to be hidden (unless I click the Show Hidden link at the top of any page) upon refreshing. But it is not doing so for me. The images remain visible.
I’m using the ‘Everything’ filter, but I’m using the exact same for several other ’boorus, and not having this problem.
Any help would be appreciated…and I’m sure it’s something silly I’ve done wrong.
p.s. This is occurring across browsers (chromium & firefox) and OSes (Arch Linux & Win10), with and without extensions.
EDIT: As of now (~ 11 PM UTC 2025-01-12), the Hide functionality IS WORKING NORMALLY. I’m unsure why – literally nothing has changed on my end – though I’m thankful it’s “fixed,” even if temporarily. I’ll keep an eye on it, and report back any change in this.

Like I said, nothing against that for educational or historic value, but you flooded the site with them. Pick the best, upload them and the rest combine it as a collage. I think that would be a decent compromise.

A lot of the “poor quality” images I uploaded. They’re old things I thought were good at the time they were originally made so saved and thought to share now that there’s a place for it. Maybe the original creators would get a kick out of seeing it again.

Will stick to just “the good stuff” now. Maybe a few “funny” things.

Okay, that is a reason. But do we need to spam the site with them because of this? A few examples and then a collage would do the same trick. The recent 4-5 sites (with default filter) are flooded with them.

@Thoryn
And hide them by default, so people have to opt in instead of out. These are, after all, old faulty pictures. In general we need a low quality tag. “Slob” was one of the main reason why the separation happened and I can see why. If you have a low quality doodle, at least someone tried and put time into it to produce it. Low quality slob gens I can put out 100+ an hour. We need a filter, we need to be a little “picky” with the pictures, since it is so easy to generate garbage. We don’t want the already few people interested in AI (other than us who produce AI pics) see all the slob and leave. What I am talking about (few random picked examples):

Any decent model can produce better quality with a few words in the prompt. This screams “I was to lazy to read the description” or “I was to lazy to read a quick tutorial”.

Please use links to images on site if they are on the site so people can go to the direct pages themselves. I edited them for you.

If old gens are kept for “historical value” and to show general progression, I guess one alternative could be to add tags like “low quality, early ai” etc to them, and have those tags in the default filter?

I didn’t even checked who uploaded them. That this these pictures “fly” in the first place is what bothers me.
Some even upvote what essentially comes down to being garbage. There should be rules against uploads like this.

If you do not specify a field to search over, the search engine will search for posts with a body that is similar to the query's word stems. For example, posts containing the words winged humanization, wings, and spread wings would all be found by a search for wing, but sewing would not be.
