I think one challenge that furbooru has is that its pulling people in from different fandoms with different ideas about tagging. It makes it much harder to find what you want to see and avoid what you don’t.

I was pretty down on this ghettoization. It still seems like a bad idea from the point of view of the site(s). As an advertiser, I’d think twice and splitting my impressions in half. I might not be using DB for ads again until I get some idea of what this means. My questions have been ignored.
That said, as a user after a few weeks, this is a nice place that so far has had universally positive and supportive comments and has avoided the toxicity of both the comments and the mods in the old site. I find myself coming here more often then there, lately.

I don’t know about Furbooru, never checked it out, but I will say that Ponybooru seems to be kind of languishing. There’s some activity on the forums, but in terms of participants and uploaders it seems small (probably partially due to the majority of uploads being done by an importer bot).

Out of curiosity, did Furbooru ever gain traction?

I think it will depend on whether or not people actually use the site. One of the things that unfortunately failed the Derpi-alts was a lack of user engagement, since aside from maybe a few political hot potato topics there wasn’t really anything to distinguish them from Derpi proper. Fortunately, since this site is focusing on a much larger and broader content that shouldn’t be a problem.

For starters, quitting the dependency on astralite’s model. PonyV6 is good but not the only one by far. Chroma and other NoobAI models are on-par if not better for pony and anthro, and they and EasyFluff are working towards SD3.5/Flux models at the same time Astralite is working on AuraFlow.

Basically there’s this sense of learned helplessness in the pony AI community that everything depends on Astralite / purplesmart and all hope is lost without them. That’s incredibly not true.
For this site more specifically, I guess same as any other site; sharing links to it, posting something here and sourcing it when posted elsewhere, that sort of thing. And of course, just posting more stuff, yours and others, so people feel like there’s a reason to check the site at least once a day for new content.

initially I felt quite frustrated at the prospect of managing another booru for pony-related content, believing that existing filters were adequate to address unwanted material. It seems ironic, given that ponyV6 is a leading Al checkpoint and the filtering methods used on these image boards directly foreshadowed the current practice of prompt engineering.
After thinking about it maybe this is the best solution hopefully this helps concentrate and collaboration will thrive here. I hope this become a place that can pioneer ai generated art in its many forms to come!
What do you think? Could this approach help foster creativity, or are we just creating more silos for content? How can we ensure this space truly thrives as a collaborative hub?

If you do not specify a field to search over, the search engine will search for posts with a body that is similar to the query's word stems. For example, posts containing the words winged humanization, wings, and spread wings would all be found by a search for wing, but sewing would not be.
