Yes, I think so too.
The time they announced theres a new Generation of Ponys and the Mane 6 would feature but with Fokus on the new Cast, I was more thinking at something similar to the Anime “Boruto - Naruto next Generation”.

Boruto plays like G5 in the same Universe as the Show before, just around 15-20y later.
Like Twilight, Naruto has become the Leader and the Story is not longer with the old Heroes but instead new ones, the Children of the old Cast as new Cast.
I was hoping the new Generation 5 would maybe play somewhere in the around 20y between S9E25 and S9E26.
Twilight is the new Ruler of Equestria and apear rarely like Celestia before and the other Mane 6 do their Jobs wile we follow the Adventures of the new Mane 6.

In Boruto the old Cast is still in there, but only as a mix of BG and Support Char and not longer in the Focus (like the Parents of the Mane 6 was in FiM).
The new Main are the Children and the World has evolve a bit, like the use of large public TV Screens, Telephones and Computers.
The next Generation for MLP would be the Adventures of Luster Dawn with 5 other like ’lil Cheese, Big Sugar, the Cake Twins, maybe even Flurry.

Instead G5 plays 11 Generations or 275-363 later and the World has trade the Fantasy and Magic for Social Media and modern Lifestyle (after Argyle it was 10 Generations since the Reign of Twilight + Timejump to the adult Sunny, 1 Generation is 25-33y after Google).

S9E26 - The last Problem was mostly how I would see how an “next Generation” would looks like.
Even if not that short, then I would still happy to see old Places again and how it look in the 15th Century (G4 is somewhere in the 12th Century).

I have start in the Fandom in 2019 so for me its mostly like for the most old Fans in 2013.

For me there’s something quite uncanny when machine learning tries to generate something that looks like it’s been 3d rendered. I guess part of it here is the really inconsistent lighting direction, but therevs also a bunch of other things I can’t quite put my finger on

How G5 would look if Hasbro had made it good.

I actually thought that this was an actual fan render of Rainbow Dash in G5. AI content is really starting to get better.
In a bad way.

I still haven’t gotten used to G4 ponies rendered in the G5 art style.
