Applejack had been working since sunrise.
Bushel after bushel had made its way out of the orchard, the afternoon breeze carrying the smell of leaves, warm earth, and enough fresh apples to keep the whole Apple family busy for days.
She heard the hoofsteps behind her before she bothered turning around.
Then came that unmistakable pause.
Applejack glanced back over her shoulder.
A slow little grin tugged at the corner of her muzzle.
“Somethin’ catch yer eye, sugarcube?”
A lone apple rolled lazily through the grass between them.
She flicked her tail, tipped her hat, and nodded toward the overflowing baskets nearby.
“Good. Since Ah’ve got yer attention, grab a bushel.”
Somehow, the orchard suddenly felt a whole lot warmer. 🍎☀️🌾
