Luca staggered further down the mountain trail, but the physical changes now tore away the final remnants of his human posture entirely. A deep, dull rumbling vibrated within him as the bone structure of his upper body began to reshape itself massively. His ribcage painfully lost its flat, human form; the ribs bent relentlessly outward, expanding into a powerful, barrel-like structure. At the same time, his vertical body axis shortened slightly, making him more compact, bulkier, and unmistakably more animalistic.
With every deep shift of bone and muscle, a loud, exhausted groan escaped his throat and rolled heavily across the mountainside.
His hips in particular now made it nearly impossible for him to keep his balance on two legs. His pelvis shifted even further, blocking an upright gait entirely and mercilessly forcing his center of gravity forward. Luca stumbled helplessly. More and more frequently, he caught himself pitching forward uncontrollably as his upper body sagged toward the ground.
He constantly lost his balance and bent further downward while his elongated, unwieldy forehooves instinctively searched for the earth beneath him to catch the inevitable fall. The upright posture of a human had become little more than a desperate, trembling struggle against gravity itself.
