Luca continued on his path undeterred, the rhythmic sound of his steps across the pasture setting the pace. He ignored the strange sensation at his backside and pushed forward across the open field with an almost defiant determination. To him, it was nothing more than a minor issue with his gear; a torn seam in his jeans was no reason to interrupt this long-awaited sense of freedom—even as the base of his new tail was already visibly pressing through the rip in the fabric.

As he moved on, the sunlight broke through the clouds once again, flooding the surroundings with a brilliant glow. In that light, his hair no longer appeared merely pink—it seemed to subtly shift into a deep, shimmering violet. The change happened so gradually that Luca barely registered it as he walked, dismissing it as nothing more than a trick of shadow and light. He felt strong, almost unstoppable, and the wide grin returned to his face.

Yet the heat within him remained persistent. As he kept walking, he reached almost absentmindedly for the zipper of his red jacket. He fiddled briefly with the slider, trying to relieve the pressure of the rising warmth, but left the jacket on for now. That behind him, the first long strands of violet and pink hair from his tail were already slipping free through the tear in his jeans—gently brushing against his calves with each step—was something he simply ignored in his forward drive. He was focused only on the vast openness of the field and the unfamiliar energy that pulsed more strongly through his limbs with every meter he covered.
