AI is here to stay. The Djinn will not go back in the bottle. And like most new tools that make some jobs less relevant, it gets attacked. When the photo was invented, artist protested: “A soulless machine can never capture a humans essence like a painter.” When Photoshop came, it was attacked again: “Digital Art can never replace canvas and paint!”
And yet, they all coexist next to each other. AI will have its place and there will also be people who still want traditional art. But there will be less demand for it. That’s normal, times change. Combs are made in a factory these days, and yet in japan, some people make them by hand in the most elaborate way and there are people buying those. (Saw a documentary about that a few weeks ago and its and apt comparison.)
We can’t condemn advancement in technology because a few people might loose their jobs. If we did that, the steam machine would have been abolished. Because in the end; AI is a tool. The computer is still dumb, it still needs a guiding hand and instructions.
That said, there are scummy people of both sides. I personally don’t use artist tags and loras to emulate their style. If I use them, I always mix them with something else, to avoid emulating. And yet there are people doing it on purpose to harm these artist in some way. On the other end, there are people calling for murder because someone used AI. (Go on reddit for 5min and you see both.)
TL/DR: People who say AI is killing traditional art are as bonkers as people who say AI is the answer to all.

I understand why there is a lot of negative discussion about AI, though. It is a legit threat to a lot of creative jobs.
I don’t mind AI, but I also don’t really consider it superior to traditional art in any way. Nor do I see it as a replacement. I think both have their purposes, and we should not be replacing one with the other. Especially since AI algorithms, at the end of the day, need traditional art to train off of.

“Pick up a pencil” Was thrown by AI haters at AI users, mostly on reddit. “Break the pencil” was their answer. I consider this knowledge a waste of brain space.
I downvotes this too. I have no beef with artists. Stooping down to the level of the attackers is not the way.

I don’t like Reddit. I think it is a toxic landfill of bad opinions and possibly the largest echo chamber on the Internet.
