Description

Phyllis Cloverleaf as Red Jackal, the weapons supplier for the Red Shadows, along with a Red Shadows Hyena Tank from G.I. Joe’s UK sister toyline, Action Force.
I had had the idea of using G5, TFH, and community OC’s to represent exclusive and overseas G.I. Joe characters and figures in this series. I naturally chose Phyllis for Red Jackal, as both are arms designers.

That sounds pretty close to how they were here.
When I was a kid, going to Toys ’r Us was always a special occasion because we only ever went for birthday or Christmas shopping. When my niece came around and I started shopping there as an adult to get stuff for her, it was like taking a step back into time.
Whenever i took her shopping there, she always liked the section that had the Schleich plastic animal figures.

Alas -_-
And yep! Not sure about other countries, but Toys ’r Us was popular in Spain. Not sure if the store configuration and offering was the same, but for my city it was this giant Ikea-style warehouse with aisles and aisles of everything a kid could dream of. My cousins and I would take the bus there every month to browse around… was good times.

Ah so it was the standard HISS. You got me a little excited, as you see over here in the US the early Palitoy Action Force stuff are considered sort of holy grails, so the idea that it was still available to you guys as a mail away in the early 1990s really piqued my interest.
Also, I had no idea Toys ’r Us had European branches.

Oh, so a 90’s catalog. Out of curiousity, was the tank all black or was it red? Because I know the all black was the standard HISS tank that was available for mail away in the US and elsewhere for some time, while I think the red Hyena tank was only available in the UK for a few years in the early 80’s and never offered for mail away.

Nah, just the usual “look at all these other things you can get!” multi-page pamflet. I think it came with my Invader, the tripod space lander thing, because it listed “newer stuff” from toxic corps and the like, as well as lots of older vehicles (and repaints).
