My fanon: After Sweetie Belle started interning as a Fairy, Link started to be much more cautious, because getting downed by an injury might force her to leave her bottle and then fly off to recharge at a Fairy Fountain, depriving him of beimg able to enjoy her adorableness whenever he wished.

(Also, the fingers seem offset and/or narrower than the palm.)
