Well, it is Luna's child, so it resembles her. It was actually made the same general way the Tantabus was, although for a __much__ different purpose.
I did not make the comparison to HAL 9000 arbitrarily. __Definitely__ an artificial (and thus __alien__) being, but one specifically made to work with flesh and blood creatures. The exploration of this is a major part of the series of stories it is from.
In case you can't tell, I REALLY like those stories (although I never finished the last one).
