It’s said as ‘4 dollars’ but written as $4. This is because of the decimal with change. It’s said as ‘4 dollars and 83 cents’ but written as $4.83. Otherwise, it would be ‘4 and 83/100 of a dollar’ as written on a check.

I might be a euro, but currency symbol at the start actually makes more sense to me, especially for small values with cents where you keep the symbol closer to the unit value rather than the “decimals”.
Conclusion: It was a slow day with only a single customer who came in and said “Yeah, can I get a UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-” for three hours and she stress-ate the rest of the morning make to drown out the trauma.
This is well done. I love the detail of the Ω/omega/horseshoe used as a currency sign, but I’d like to think ponies would have enough sense to use it AFTER the money amount, not before. And also that intentionally misleading prices ending in 9 would be banned.
